Abstract

High work pressure and cross-divisional assignments at the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Malang City have the potential to decrease employees' confidence in their ability to complete tasks, which may trigger work stress. This study aims to examine the effect of occupational self-efficacy on work stress among Bappeda employees. This research employed a non-experimental correlational quantitative approach and used total sampling, involving 60 participants. The instruments used were the Short Occupational Self-Efficacy Scale and the Work-Related Stress Scale. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the help of SPSS. The results showed that occupational self-efficacy had a significant negative effect on work stress, with a contribution of 56.3%. This means that occupational self-efficacy significantly influences the work stress of Bappeda employees and is able to explain 56.3% of the variance in their work stress levels, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study.. These findings highlight the strategic importance of enhancing self-efficacy, such as through the MOOSE intervention model—as an organizational effort to sustainably reduce work stress in the Bappeda work environment.
