Abstract

Global environmental issues are exacerbated by the lack of public awareness and participation especially in organic household waste management. This research focuses on the eco-enzyme production program in Community association (RW) 06, Songgokerto Village, Batu City, as a solution to increase public awareness of utilizing organic waste by making eco-enzymes. Eco-enzymes, produced from the fermentation of organic waste, have the potential to be environmentally friendly products and reduce the burden of waste
management. This study aims to explain the effectiveness of implementing eco-enzyme utilization in increasing environmental awareness among residents of RW 06, Songgokerto Village, Batu City. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study research
type. Data collection techniques include documentation, archival records, interviews, direct observation, participant observation, and physical artifacts. Data analysis was carried out using Robert K. Yin's framework, which includes three stages: pattern matching, explanation building, and time series analysis. The results of the study indicate
that the utilization of kitchen waste to produce eco-enzymes independently provides added economic value, supports a sustainable lifestyle, and has the potential to be a raw material for environmentally friendly household products. However, the sustainability of the
program is highly dependent on active community participation, which can be affected by changing priorities or a lack of motivation. Analysis using the theories of George C. Edwards III and Pierre Bourdieu concludes that the success of the program is influenced by the interaction between communication, resources, implementer attitudes, and bureaucratic structure. Social, cultural, and economic capital play an important role in encouraging community participation. However, limited resources and a lack of implementer regeneration hinder the sustainability of the program. To increase the effectiveness of implementation, synergy is needed between structural support from the government, strengthening social capital in the community, and increasing understanding of the importance of environmental management.
