Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of job satisfaction and organizational commitment on intention to stay in young lecturers who work at Islamic-based universities in Malang City. The background of this research is based on the important role of young lecturers in supporting the progress of higher education institutions, as well as the need for retention strategies to maintain quality educators. The approach used is quantitative with explanatory research type. A total of 40 young lecturers from Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang and Universitas Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang became respondents in this study, which were selected using propotional random sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through a Likert scale questionnaire (1-5), then analyzed using validity, reliability, multiple linear regression, and t tests. The results of the analysis show that both job satisfaction and organizational commitment significantly influence intention to stay. Of the two variables, organizational commitment was found to be the most dominant factor. These findings provide important implications for universities in formulating human resource management policies to improve the retention of young lecturers.
