Abstract
The development of various online streaming applications has attracted the attention of millions of viewers, giving rise to the phenomenon of binge watching behavior. However, this phenomenon tends to have a negative impact on individuals. The purpose of this study is to see how self-control affects binge watching behavior in early adults. This research uses a quantitative approach. The number of subjects was 607 early adult individuals who were students. The measuring instrument used in this study is the Binge Watching Engagement Scale Quisionnare (BWESQ) which has been adapted by Utami and Arfensia (2024) totaling 40 items and The Brief Self-Control operationalization of De Ridder et. al., (2012) which has been adapted to Indonesian by Arifin and Milla (2020) with a total of 10 items. The data analysis method uses simple linear regression analysis with the help of JASP. The results showed the influence of self-control on binge watching behavior in early adulthood with an influence between variables of 4%. The implication of the research is the importance of developing intervention programs aimed at increasing student self-control to reduce excessive binge watching behavior.
