Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Restitution Triangle approach Segitiga carried out by a classroom teacher in addressing student misbehavior and to analyze its impact on reducing the level of misconduct and fostering students’ moral values at SDN 4 Wonosari, Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra. The research employs a qualitative approach with a single case study design. The research subject consists of one teacher, specifically a Grade I teacher who actively applies the Restitution Triangle method in classroom management and behavior guidance. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation review. The research instruments were developed based on three main indicators of the Restitution Triangle framework: (1) Stabilizing the student’s identity measured by how the teacher builds the student’s confidence and positive self-image; (2) Validating the mistaken behavior assessed through how the teacher helps students understand their misbehavior without blame or punishment; and (3) Asking belief-based questions evaluated through student involvement in generating personal solutions based on internal moral values. The findings reveal that the Restitution Triangle is effective in shaping positive student behavior and instilling core moral values such as responsibility, honesty, and empathy. The teacher reported a noticeable decrease in student misconduct, a more conducive learning environment, and improved teacher-student relationships. The effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated through students’ ability to recognize their mistakes, engage in self-reflection, and resolve conflicts independently without the use of physical punishment or threats. This study also suggests that the Restitution Triangle method has strong potential for replication in other elementary schools dealing with similar behavioral challenges, particularly in the development of student character through a humane and restorative educational approach.
