Abstract

This study examines how international students' self-efficacy at Hanyang University in South Korea is influenced by emotional intelligence and positive verbal persuasion. Although the presence of international students greatly enhances the diversity and inclusivity of the academic environment, they also encounter obstacles such as language barriers, cultural differences, and academic pressure that can make them less confident in social situations. The ability to comprehend and control emotions, or emotional intelligence, is essential for assisting learners in overcoming these obstacles. Furthermore, encouraging self-efficacy—the belief in one's ability to accomplish particular goals—requires positive verbal persuasion from lecturers and peers. Data was gathered quantitatively by distributing surveys to 30 international students. The results reveal that all the examined variables, which emotional intelligence, positive verbal persuasion, and self-efficacy in Hanyang University’s international students, are included in a good category. In which self-efficacy is significantly improved by emotional intelligence, whereas positive verbal persuasion has no statistically significant effect. But when combined, the two variables help to boost self-efficacy. According to the research, improving emotional intelligence and offering constant yet compassionate, encouraging verbal support will foster a more encouraging learning atmosphere that will help international students succeed and adjust to a multicultural context.
