Abstract
This research aims to develop valid, practical, and effective Canva-based math teaching materials in improving the concept visualization skills and engagement of junior high school students. The research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with a 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) model. The test subjects were 24 students in grade VII of SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Karanggeneng as many as 24 students. The instruments used include expert validation sheets, student and teacher engagement questionnaires, and concept visualization ability tests through pre-tests and post-tests. The results of the study show that the teaching materials developed meet the criteria are very valid based on expert assessments from the aspects of content, presentation, language, and graphics. The teaching materials were also considered very practical by students and teachers, with an average score of 3.50 from a scale of 4. In terms of effectiveness, there was an increase in the average student score from 70.63 in the pre-test to 94.79 in the post-test, and the level of learning completeness increased from 41.6% to 95.8%. These findings suggest that the use of Canva in teaching materials can facilitate the understanding of visually abstract concepts and increase students' active participation in learning. As such, Canva-based math teaching materials are suitable for use as an interactive, engaging, and relevant learning media alternative to improve the quality of junior high school students' learning process.
