Abstract
Adolescent girls face various emotional challenges during their developmental transition toward adulthood. One factor that is presumed to influence their emotional stability is the quality of the relationship with the father figure. This study aims to examine the role of father-daughter attachment in shaping the emotional intelligence of adolescent girls. The research employed a quantitative method with a correlational design. The subjects consisted of 196 adolescent girls. The instruments used were the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) – father version, to measure attachment, and the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS), to measure emotional intelligence, both of which were translated into Indonesian. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression assisted by SPSS software. The results showed that attachment to the father plays a significant role in the emotional intelligence of adolescent girls, with a regression coefficient (B) of 0.160, beta (β) of 0.19, t-value of 2.71, and significance level (p) of .007 (p < .05). These results indicate that the more secure the attachment to the father, the better the emotional intelligence of adolescent girls
