Abstract

This study discusses China's involvement in the Pan-Asian Railways project as part of the Regional Connectivity strategy in the Southeast Asian region. This study aims to examine in depth how this project opens up strategic opportunities for China, while identifying the challenges that arise in its implementation. This study uses a Qualitative analysis method with a descriptive-analytical approach, where data is collected through literature studies from various relevant sources. The results of this study indicate that the Pan-Asian Railways Project not only strengthens China's economic and geopolitical influence in the region, but behind it China faces various challenges such as differences in policies between countries, funding issues, and resistance from other influences. The conclusion of this study is that although the PAR project offers various opportunities for China to expand its regional connectivity network, its success is highly dependent on China's ability to manage political dynamics and cooperation between countries in the Southeast Asian region.
