Abstract

Happiness as a universal goal is something that is pursued by everyone regardless of culture, place, and time. The desire to achieve happiness has become an inherent nature of humans. Happiness is also pursued by every stage of development, except for the adolescent development period. One source of adolescent happiness is establishing social relationships. Social relationships can be established if the individual has a high extraversion personality. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of extraversion personality on happiness in adolescents. This study uses a quantitative correlational approach with a simple linear
regression analysis technique. The sampling technique used accidental sampling which was taken directly at the research location (offline) and through social media (online) with a total
of 390 subjects. The criteria for subjects in this study were males and females aged 11-18 years. The research instrument used was the International Personality Item Pool - Big Five Markers (IPIP-BFM-25) for extraversion personality and the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) and Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) for happiness. The results of the study showed that the significance value was p < 0.001 (p < 0.05), meaning that there is an influence of extraversion personality on happiness in adolescents. The implications of this study are in accordance with the findings that are expected to be a basis for compiling interventions that are in accordance with the personality of each adolescent in achieving happiness.
