Abstract
Social anxiety is a form of anxiety that appears in social situations when individuals have to interact with others, and adolescents are an age group that is vulnerable to social anxiety, characterized by excessive fear of negative evaluation from the social environment. This study aims to analyze the effect of self-criticism on social anxiety in adolescents. The method used in this study is quantitative. The sampling technique used Accidental Sampling which was taken randomly by visiting several places directly with a total of 421 subjects. The criteria for subjects in this study were male or female, aged 11-18 years. The research instrument used was the Social Appearance Anxiety Scale (SAAS) adaptation scale to measure social anxiety and the Forms Of Self-Criticism/Self-Reassuring Scale (FSCRS) adaptation scale to measure self-criticism. Data analysis used in this study was simple linear regression. The results of this study indicate that the significance value is p <.001 (P <0.05), with a coefficient of determination or R Square (R²) value of 0.165.
