Abstract

The rapid development of the internet not only provides access to information, but also develops in the field of communication. Social networking and chatting with certain applications are developments in communication in cyberspace. Facebook and Twitter are two examples of social networks that are widely used for communication. Facebook is a social network with a discussion function. Likewise with Michat. This research discusses the use of Michat among prostitutes in Malang district. This research uses a purposive technique. The subjects in this study were 5 people with the criteria for prostitutes who used the Michat application. Minimum duration of use of the Michat application was 1 year, aged 16 years - 20 years, transacted in the Malang Regency area. This research was conducted using a case study approach with data collection techniques, namely observation of research subjects, interviews and document studies as well as Phenomenological theory by Alfred Schutz.
