Abstract
Introduction: The development of digital technology provides convenience in accessing entertainment, one of which is online games. However, high intensity play can lead to addiction and negatively impact behavior, including aggressive behavior. College students who spend long hours playing violent games tend to show physical and verbal aggressiveness. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the level of online game addiction and the aggressive behavior of students.
Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between online game addiction and aggressive behavior in college students. Methods: The design of this study was descriptive correlation with a cross sectional approach involving 240 students selected through stratified random sampling techniques. The instruments used were the Game Addiction Scale (GAS) and the Buss-Perry Agrression Questionaire. Results: The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between online game addiction and aggressive behavior of students with a value of p = 0.000. Conclusion: Aggressive behavior in college students is influenced by a variety of factors, such as academic pressure, the social environment, and the way individuals manage emotions and stress. Digital activities, including social media use and online gaming habits, contribute to aggressive behavior, especially for individuals who spend a lot of time in such activities. Based on the results of the study, there was a relationship between Based on calculations and the spearman test, a significance p value of 0.00 was obtained, which means that there is a relationship between online game addiction and aggressive student behavior
