Abstract

Good individual self-control is formed since childhood, where the role of parents including the presence of fathers is very much needed, not only as breadwinners. But plays an important role in the growth and development of children so that children are able to control themselves even though they live far from their parents. This study aims to determine the relationship between the role of fathers and self-control in new students in the diaspora. The method in this study is quantitative with accidental sampling technique, involving 350 students in semesters 1-4 as subjects through the preparation stage, the implementation stage through online data collection, namely providing a google form link and offline with paper and pencil to subjects who were met by researchers by chance and according to research criteria, then conducting analysis through JASP (Jeffrey's Amazing Statistics Program) for windows with the spearman correlation analysis technique. The results showed a p value <.001 (p <0.05) which means there is a significant relationship between the role of the father and self control. This shows that the variables of the role of the father and self-control are positively correlated where the higher the role of the father, the higher the individual's self-control.
