Abstract

Transportation is an important aspect of daily life, especially for students who have high mobility. Malang City, as one of the main educational cities in Indonesia, faces high transportation needs among students. Ride-sharing applications offer fast, efficient, and economical solutions, but the preferences and needs of students as the main users of this service require special attention. This study aims to identify the needs and preferences of students towards ride-sharing applications in Malang City. This study also analyzes the factors that influence the use of these applications and evaluates the level of student satisfaction with existing services.
The research method used was a survey involving students in Malang City, focusing on the frequency of using ridesharing with friends, the availability of friends to provide rides, and the level of communication via chat. The results showed that students often use ridesharing with friends, and the availability of friends to provide rides and effective communication via chat played an important role in the ridesharing experience. In addition, the similarity of time between students also affected the effectiveness of using ridesharing applications.
These findings provide valuable insights for ride-sharing app developers to design features that better suit students’ needs, such as better integration of communication features and flexible scheduling. Thus, it is expected that ride-sharing apps can improve convenience, efficiency, and user satisfaction, as well as support student mobility in Malang City more optimally.
