Abstract
Generational differences in the workplace influence employees’ mindsets, perspectives, and psychological dynamics. This study aims to explore the level of happiness among Generation X, Y, and Z employees in the urban industry of Timika, Central Papua, as well as to examine differences in happiness based on generational category, gender, and marital status. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling, involving a total of 210 employee participants. The data were analyzed using Welch’s ANOVA to test for differences among generations, followed by the Games-Howell post-hoc test. The results indicated a significant difference in happiness levels among generations (p = 0.001), with Generation X showing the highest level of happiness, followed by Generation Z, and Generation Y with the lowest. The Games-Howell test confirmed significant differences between Generation X and Y (p = 0.020), as well as between Generation Y and Z (p = 0.004). Gender was found to be a contributing factor, with male employees tending to report higher happiness levels than female employees. Additionally, married individuals reported higher levels of happiness compared to those who were unmarried.
