Abstract

Nowadays, the development of social media is very popular with generation Z. So that this generation is very easily affected by narcissistic behavior. Narcissistic behavior is a health disorder that can be suffered by someone because the level of self-confidence and self-love has exceeded its limits. In accordance with the seven aspects expressed by experts regarding aspects of narcissism. One of the factors that can influence narcissistic behavior is the intensity of the use of TikTok social media which is very popular with the current generation. This study aims to see the influence between the intensity of TikTok social media use on the tendency of narcissistic behavior in generation z. The subjects of this study were 60 respondents who belonged to generation z, with an age range of 22-26 years who were taken using the accidental sampling technique. The instrument used was based on the narcissism aspect by Robert Raskin and Howard Terry with statements with a Likert scale to measure the tendency of narcissistic behavior and the intensity aspect of social media use by Del Barrio to measure the intensity of TikTok social media use. The analysis method used is the simple linear regression equation method and partial test with the help of the SPSS version 22 program. The results of the study showed that there was a significant influence between the Intensity of TikTok Social Media Use on the Tendency of Narcissistic Behavior in Generation Z with partial test results of 2.800 > 2.002. And the results of the partial test significance are 0.007 < 0.05.
