Abstract

The process of directing and managing emotions that can affect various aspects such as social, cognitive, and psychological is known as emotional regulation. Some teenagers who are searching for their identity will show negative behavior such as drinking alcohol, and teenagers who live in problematic environments will face many problems such as experiencing violence or becoming victims of sexual, emotional, or psychological. However, teenagers who do not have good emotional regulation can experience conflict, stress, or depression, while teenagers who can manage their emotions can overcome stress and use it as a provision to calm themselves down. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an influence of authoritarian parenting and Self-efficacy on emotional regulation in adolescents. The method used was quantitative with an accidental sampling technique on 347 subjects who were tested with the classical assumption test and simple nonlinear regression test using SPSS. The research instrument used the authoritarian parenting scale, self-efficacy scale, and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. There was an influence of authoritarian parenting on emotional regulation with an effective contribution of 48.6%, and self-efficacy on emotional regulation with an effective contribution of 2.5%.
