Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of using Building Information Modeling (BIM) in planning the volume of structural work, compared to the conventional method that has been used, namely the Bill of Quantity (BoQ). A case study was conducted on the 1st phase construction project of the Faculty of Dentistry Building at Brawijaya University Phase I in Malang City, East Java. The methodology employed in this research is a quantitative approach with computational data analysis of the project. The technical data collected includes project location, layout, general project information, Detail Engineering Drawing (DED), and Bill of Quantity (BoQ). 3D Modeling was performed using Autodesk Revit 2025 software to generate structural work volume data. The research findings indicate that the concrete volume produced by the Revit application is 4922.628 m³, with a reinforcement volume of 863476.087 kg. Compared to conventional methods, the BIM system demonstrates higher effectiveness, with a planning volume percentage of 1.47% for concrete and 6.58% for reinforcement being smaller. The use of BIM in planning the volume of structural work provides more accurate results and reduces calculation errors, thus supporting the smooth running of construction projects.
