Abstract

The traditional batik industry holds significant potential for boosting the local economy, particularly in rural areas. According to the RPJMDes of Bedagung, the village faces a high poverty rate as a dominant social condition. This study aims to examine the role of village governance and community empowerment in supporting batik business groups in Bedagung Village. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the village government has made efforts to empower batik artisans through skills training, business capital assistance, and technical mentoring. These initiatives align with the concept of good governance, where proper administrative standards are crucial in achieving sustainable development and enhancing government support for community welfare. Despite the involvement of the village government, the Batik Agung Lestari group still encounters major challenges, including limited market access, a lack of product innovation, and low utilization of digital technology for marketing. Therefore, this study emphasizes the need to enhance digital marketing strategies, strengthen partnerships with the private sector, and conduct regular evaluations of the effectiveness of empowerment programs. Additionally, optimizing government support for the Batik Agung Lestari group is essential. With improved village governance and a more comprehensive empowerment approach, the batik industry in Bedagung Village has the potential to expand and achieve long-term sustainability.
