Abstract
Selamat Pohan: Santri Religious Character Development Model (Case Study at
MuhammadiyahnModern Islamic BoardingnSchool Kwala MadunLangkat). Promoter: Prof. Dr.

The research was conducted against the background of the daily behavior of students, at
school, in Islamic boarding schools and in the community which is related to character. Characterrmeans mental orrmoral qualities, moralsstrength, andrreputation. The development of the religiousscharacter of the santri is unique. The researchnparadigm isninterpretive, with a qualitativenapproach, asnwell as a case study
type ofnresearch, whichnaims to describenand analyze the model of developing the religious character ofnstudents at the Kwala Madu Langkat Islamicnboarding school including the concept ofnreligious characternof the modern Muhammadiyah Islamicnboarding school, the concept of modern Muhammadiyah Islamic boarding school management and thenmodel of
developing religiousncharacter. students at the Kwala Madu Langkat Islamicnboarding school. The results of the study are: First, conceptually or theoretically, the concept of religious
character is the developmentnof the religiousncharacter of thenstudents in accordance with the theory and concept of the Guidelines for Islamic Life for Muhammadiyah Members. The two
models of developing religious character that are applied to students in the modern MuhammadiyahnIslamic boardingnschool Kwala Madunare three, namely: 1) understanding., 2)
habituation., 3) Exemplary. The proposition of this research states that it is an input for the modernnIslamicnboarding school Muhammadiyah Kwala Madu to carrynout the developmentnof the religious character of the students according to the concept of Guidelines for Islamic Life for Muhammadiyah Members (PHI-WM). Furthermore, it becomes a comparison for other researchers who wish to discuss the same problem in both Islamic boarding schools and public educational institutions and society in general regarding the model of developingnthe religiousncharacter ofnstudents
through the concept of Guidelines for Islamic Life for Muhammadiyah Members (PHI-WM).
