Abstract

In this modern era, there is a plethora of technological advancements, particularly in the field of video games. This development is increasingly rapid with the emergence of game creators/producers, and the advancement of visual graphics technology compels developers to continuously innovate and compete by creating various visual games. The progress of digital technology has evidently impacted the increase in copyright infringement in Indonesia, especially regarding digital copyrighted works such as computer software. This research aims to identify and explain the analysis of video game software duplication practices in light of Law No. 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright, in accommodating video game developers to protect their copyrighted software and to prosecute those responsible for video game piracy. Law No. 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright contains several articles that can assist in protecting developers and prosecuting pirates, but the punishments imposed seem disproportionate to the losses caused by the pirates. This indicates that there are still shortcomings in this law, as many pirates continue to engage in illegal duplication/piracy without fearing severe penalties.
