Abstract
This research aims to analyze and determine the relationship between chest circumference, body length, and withers height. By understanding the definitive relationships between these variables, it is hoped that more accurate recommendations can be generated for the selection and management of cattle breeds in accordance with SNI (Indonesian National Standard). The research method used is correlation analysis, which aims to determine the strength of the relationship between variables expressed by the correlation coefficient (r). The study used 50 female coastal cattle aged 6 months at BPTU-HPT Padang Mengatas. The observed variables were chest circumference, withers height, and body length. Correlation analysis revealed a significance value of 0.612 (<0.001) between chest circumference and withers height; a significance value of 0.484 (<0.001) between chest circumference and body length; and a significance value of 0.562 (<0.001) between withers height and body length. Chest circumference and withers height do not have a strong relationship with body length. The result of the chest circumference and withers height analysis of 0.612 (<0.001) allows us to conclude that chest circumference has a strong relationship with withers height.
