Abstract

Background Liver Cirrhosis is a chronic disease characterized by the appearance of fibrosis surrounding the parenchymal nodules. Spontaneos Bacterial Peritonitis (SBP) is an acute bacterial infection of ascites fluid. Third-generation cephalosporins are drugs used in the management and treatment of gram-negative and gram-positive organisms and are the first-line treatment for liver cirrhosis with SBP patients.
Purpose This study was conducted to investigate and study the use of cephalosporins in patients with liver cirrhosis with SBP at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang Hospital (UMM Hospital) Malang City.
Methode This research was conducted descriptively and the data collection was retrospective with a consequential sampling method.
Result of conclusions The pattern of Single use was found in 12 (92%), while combinations pattern as many as 1 pattern (8%). The most single use pattern is Ceftriaxone (2x1g) i.v, which is 7 patterns (58%), while the combination used was Ceftriaxone (2x1g) i.v + Ciprofloxacin (2x200mg) 1 pattern.
