Abstract

Quiet quitting behavior is a phenomenon that is increasingly common in the work environment, especially in generation Z. Quiet quitting does not mean quitting work but rather a form of physical and psychological withdrawal of employees in the workplace such as only doing tasks according to the job description without more involvement. This study aims to determine the relationship between job autonomy and quiet quitting behavior in generation Z. This research uses quantitative methods with simple linear regression analysis. The research sample amounted to 318 respondents selected using simple random sampling technique. The research instruments used were the quiet quitting scale from Galanis et al., (2023) and the job autonomy scale from Breaugh (1989). The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between Job Autonomy and Quiet Quitting in Generation Z Employees. Then the r value was found to be -0.142, because the value is minus it can be seen that there is an opposite or negative relationship between Job Autonomy and Quiet Quitting. The implication of this research is the importance of management to create a more flexible work environment and provide space for employees, especially generation Z by providing autonomy in carrying out their tasks. In addition, understanding the characteristics of generation Z is important in designing a more productive and adaptive work system.
