Abstract

MAN Kota Batu Service Portal website has been operational since 2020 but has not undergone a usability evaluation to assess its ease of use. This study aims to evaluate the website’s usability using the Website Usability Evaluation Tool (WEBUSE) and Heuristic Evaluation (HE) methods.
This research employs a quantitative approach with purposive sampling, involving 90 respondents who are students of MAN Kota Batu. The WEBUSE evaluation was conducted through a questionnaire covering four main aspects: Content, Organization & Readability; Navigation & Links; User Interface Design; and Performance & Effectiveness. Meanwhile, heuristic evaluation was performed by professional evaluators to identify usability issues based on Nielsen’s 10 heuristics.
The findings indicate that the website’s usability score is 0.617, categorized as Good. The heuristic evaluation identified 14 usability issues, including one critical issue (severity 4) related to navigation, three high-priority issues (severity 3), and several minor issues. Recommendations for improvement include enhancing navigation, refining information layout, optimizing user interface design, and improving website performance.
Based on these results, this study recommends further development to enhance user experience and ensure the website is more intuitive and efficient in supporting learning activities at MAN Kota Batu.
