Abstract

This study aims to understand the perceptions of marriage by daughters from divorced families in the context of social learning theory proposed by Albert Bandura. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, data were collected through purposive sampling and involved three female subjects aged 19 to 25 who were unmarried. This research was conducted considering the high divorce rate in Indonesia. The findings of this study show that there are differences in marriage perceptions among the three subjects: one with a positive perception of marriage, one with an ambivalent perception, and one with a negative perception. A positive marriage perception is characterized by a desire and optimistic view of getting married. An ambivalent marriage perception is marked by a desire to marry but also by doubts and fear regarding marriage. Meanwhile, a negative marriage perception is characterized by an avoidance or rejection attitude toward marriage.
