Abstract

Smart farming is one of the popular livestock and agricultural models today. This livestock model utilizes IoT or WSN technology. The use of the Internet of Things (IoT) in smart farming is used to connect components such as sensors and actuators that can be used to monitor livestock conditions, monitor plants around livestock or agricultural areas with the internet via smartphones or other gadgets. This study aims to implement LoRa for livestock tracking in smart farming and to find out the location of livestock by utilizing RSSI. The research method used is to conduct experiments using the Omnet++ simulator and the Flora framework. Then the calculation of the position of livestock is calculated using multilateration. The results of the study show a relationship between RSSI and distance for estimating the position of nodes assumed to be livestock. These findings indicate the potential for using LoRa in real environments, although further optimization is needed, such as adjusting the parameters used in calculating distance using RSSI and the multilateration method to obtain node positions. The results of this study can be used to develop a basic model or conduct an initial analysis of the relationship between RSSI and distance in a simulated environment.
