Abstract

In this modern era, generation Z is known as the generation with the highest level of anxiety compared to millennials and generation X. This high level of anxiety is influenced by several factors such as academic pressure, social relationships, and also family problems. Anxiety is a form of negative affect which is included in the subjective well-being component. This study aims to determine the effect of self-disclosure on three components of subjective well-being, including life satisfaction, positive affect, and negative affect. The method used to examine the data in this study is quantitative correlation. The data source in this study was obtained through a questionnaire in the form of a statement through google form media. This study used 3 research instruments including the Revised Self-Disclosure Scale (RSDS), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and also the Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS). The sampling technique used purposive sampling with the number of subjects obtained as many as 154 generation Z users of social media X. This research data analysis uses the help of JASP software version 0.16.4. Hypothesis testing was carried out using simple linear regression analysis to determine the influence between variables. The results of the study show that self-disclosure has a significant positive effect on life satisfaction, positive affect, and also negative affect.
