Abstract

China is a country known for its economy that is very dominant in the international arena. However, China is suspected of committing violence and discrimination against ethnic minorities. To the point of ignoring human rights. The same thing also happened to the Uighur community which is one of the ethnic groups in the Chinese region, especially Xinjiang. Uighur itself is not the only ethnic minority in China. There are many ethnic groups that live side by side with the native Chinese (Han) ethnic group. However, the author highlights the Uighurs because they often get different treatment just because of their identity. This was responded to by one of the international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), namely Amnesty International, which is making efforts to defend human rights in Xinjiang, China. However, China is a country that is very closed about the activities and policies carried out in its government. This is a challenge for Amnesty International to resolve the problem of discrimination against the Uighur ethnic group. The author will review what efforts and effectiveness have been made by Amnesty International regarding its resolution in handling this discrimination case. The author uses library research data collection methods and descriptive qualitative research methods and uses Stan Yu's INGO Effectiveness concept and the Human Rights (HAM) concept.
