Abstract
. Guilt and Shame are two emotions that can influence individuals in facing moral transgressions. This study aims to adapt the Guilt and Shame Proneness Scale (GASP) into the Indonesian language and evaluate its psychometric properties within the Indonesian population. The adaptation process followed the standard procedures of the International Test Commission, including translation, synthesis, expert judgment, pilot testing, and psychometric analysis. Data were collected from 316 participants using the accidental sampling method through both online and offline surveys. Data analysis was conducted using Jeffreys’s Amazing Statistics Program (JASP) version 0.19.3.0, including reliability testing, construct validity, and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The results indicate that the four-factor structure of GASP remains well-preserved within Indonesian culture, demonstrating high reliability. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) results confirmed that the four-factor model had a good fit with the data, and correlation analysis revealed significant relationships between the GASP subscales and the Big Five personality dimensions. Therefore, overall, the Indonesian version of GASP possesses good reliability and validity, making it a suitable instrument for measuring guilt and shame proneness within the Indonesian population.
