HUBUNGAN AKTIVITAS FISIK DAN PENINGKATAN BASAL METABOLISME RATE PADA PASIEN DIABETES MELITUS. UNDERGRADUATE THESIS, UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH MALANG.

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by impaired glucose metabolism due to the body's inability to produce insulin properly. Therefore, physical activity is a component of all lifestyle changes. Physical activity is highly recommended for people with diabetes mellitus, especially for those who are overweight. And basal metabolic rate is the body's caloric needs in humans in doing any activity.
Methods: The research design used an analytic observational design with a cross sectional study approach. sampling technique is probability sampling with simple random sampling. This research was conducted on December 2024 until January 2025, located at Polowijen health center
Results: The statistical results in this study using the Spearman rank test obtained a significance value of (0.000). These results show a significance value of less than 0.05 (sig <0.05) so that it is stated that there is a relationship between physical activity and an increase in basal metabolic rate in patients with diabetes mellitus. The correlation coefficient (r) value of (+405) which shows the relationship between the two variables, namely physical activity and increased basal metabolic rate in patients with diabetes mellitus is moderate with a positive correlation direction (+)
Conclusions: If the physical activity obtained is lower, the basal metabolic rate of diabetes mellitus patients will be lower.
