Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) technology has provided innovative solutions in water resource management. This study aims to design and implement an IoT-based water meter reading system at the Regional Water Company (Perumda) Tirta Kanjuruhan, Malang Regency. This system uses a YF-S201 water flow sensor connected to an ESP32 microcontroller as the main connection via Wi-Fi and a GSM SIM800L module as a backup connection. Water consumption data is sent to backend server using the HTTP protocol and analyzed to detect water usage anomalies.
Testing was carried out using a prototype that simulates real operational conditions by measuring the accuracy of sensor readings and system reliability under various network conditions. This system also has a temporary storage mechanism in EEPROM if the connection is not available. The results of the study show that the system can improve the accuracy of water meter readings and detect leaks more effectively than manual methods. With this implementation, Perumda Tirta Kanjuruhan can improve operational efficiency, reduce the risk of water loss, and improve the quality of customer service.
