PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT MELALUI BUDIDAYA ULAT SUTERA DALAM MENINGKATKAN EKONOMI MASYARAKAT DI DESA SENTUL KECAMATAN PURWODADI KABUPATEN PASURUAN

Community empowerment is providing resources, opportunities, knowledge and skills to citizens to increase their ability to determine their own future and participate in helping others to have strength so as to improve their quality of life. The goal of community empowerment is the condition to be achieved either from a social change which becomes a more empowered society to better fulfill their life needs. The community empowerment strategy will take place in stages by carrying out a preparation in the community empowerment process. Silkworm cultivation activity is a community empowerment effort that is applied to improve the welfare of the people of Sentul Village. This study aims to determine community empowerment through silkworm cultivation. The research approach uses qualitative descriptive research. Determination of the subject in this study was determined by purposive sampling. The type of data used is primary data obtained by interviews, observation, and documentation and secondary data from journals, books, and previous studies. Technical data validity using data source triangulation. In this study, Jim Ife's Community Empowerment theory was used. By empowering the community through the development of silkworm cultivation, the cultivating community has experienced a significant increase in their income. So that through the cultivation of silkworms, starting from the hatchery process to the production process, it certainly brings benefits to the people of Sentul Village in meeting their needs and improving their welfare. The presence of an empowerment program through silkworm cultivation is quite influential. In addition, the time spent is only for free time, so it does not interfere with the initial activities. The impact of the implementation of community empowerment through silkworm cultivation on the Sentul Village community from an economic perspective increases income and helps the family economy.
