ANALISIS YURIDIS SOSIOLOGIS TENTANG UPAYA PENANGGULANGAN TINDAK PIDANA PENCURIAN KENDARAAN BERMOTOR (Studi di Polresta Malang Kota)

The police as an apparatus that carries out the functions of law enforcement, maintenance of security and public order as well as protection and community services, is also tasked with preventing and tackling a criminal act of theft. The Crime of Motor Vehicle Theft is one of the crimes that often occurs and is a concern in the criminal law system. This study aims to find out the efforts to counter Motor Vehicle Theft. The type of research used is the empirical research method. Data was collected through several stages, namely interviews, literature studies, and documentation using a juridical-sociological approach. The results of the study show that efforts to overcome crime through non-penal/preventive channels, the steps of the Malang City Police in preventing the theft of motor vehicles, namely routine patrols and conveying appeals related to Curanmor, criminal countermeasures through penal (criminal law), which focuses on repressive efforts or enforcement against perpetrators of motor vehicle theft crimes in the Malang City Police. The obstacles faced in dealing with Curanmor at the Malang City Police are that many migrants or students from outside Malang City are less vigilant with their own vehicles, so that there are many cases of Curanmor. Then in terms of technology, the obstacle is that it is difficult to identify the face of the perpetrator on CCTV because of the large number of Curanmor perpetrators.
