Abstract

Unpredictable weather significantly impacts travel activities, including user safety and comfort. This study explores the integration of real-time weather information into activity recommendation features in travel applications using the Design Thinking method, which prioritizes user-centered approaches. Through five stages Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test, the research successfully identified user needs through interviews, observations, and user persona analysis. Creative solutions were developed into initial prototypes and validated using Maze Testing and the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). Results showed a usability score of 81 ("Good") with high levels of attractiveness, efficiency, and clarity. Real-time weather data integration enabled more relevant activity recommendations, improved user satisfaction, reduced discomfort from unexpected weather, and enhanced travel planning experiences. This study demonstrates that the Design Thinking method effectively creates innovative, user-responsive solutions, contributing to the development of travel application features that are safe, convenient, and proactive.
