Abstract

This research discusses the role of the ASEAN Investment Area (AIA) in Indonesia's economic reconstruction through Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) with a focus on the electric vehicle industry. The subject matter discussed is how AIA supports Indonesia in facing the challenges caused by Covid-19 through investment in the electric vehicle sector. The main objective of this research is to analyze and evaluate Indonesia's strategy in utilizing FDI to advance the electric vehicle industry as an effort to support economic reconstruction. The method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach, collecting data through literature studies related to FDI strategies, economic reconstruction, and regional cooperation especially focusing on AIA. The main theory used is International Regime Theory which explains the dynamics of international cooperation and the role of regimes in facilitating cooperation and adjusting the interests of various countries in international relations. The results show that AIA plays a critical role in promoting a conducive environment for FDI, which contributes to increasing the production capacity and infrastructure of electric vehicles in Indonesia. FDI has strengthened regional cooperation and helped Indonesia integrate its national economy with the global economy. This research provides insights into how FDI policy can be used to advance sustainable economic development goals and demonstrates the importance of regional cooperation in the face of global challenges.
