Abstract
Saga tree (Adenanthera pavonina L.) is one of the forest plants that can be used as the development of non-timber forest products (NTFPs). Saga plant (Adenantera pavonina L.) is a species belonging to the family beans (Luguminoceae) that are widely used by humans. Reproduction of plants plays an important role in plant propagation. Seeds are part of the plant that is widely used for breeding. This study aimed to determine the effect of mechanical scarification technique combination treatment with sandpaper and chemical concentration H2SO4 on the breakdown of dormancy and germination of saga
seeds (Adenantera pavonina L.). This research was conducted through an experimental approach with completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors, the first factor is mechanical scarification by sanding 1 side of the seed and 2 sides of the seed, the second
factor of chemical concentration H2SO4 0%, 10%, 30% and 60%. Based on research results, the best combination treatment was M2K1 (2 sided sanding mechanics and 10% H2SO4 concentration) which had an influence on the parameters of germination, germination rate, wet weight, dry weight and leaf growth. The best hypocotyl length in
the M1K0 combination treatment (1 sided sanding mechanics and 0% H2SO4 concentration), the best radicle length in the M2K2 combination treatment (2 sided sanding mechanics and 30% H2SO4 concentration). Based on the results of the study can be concluded treatment with sanding 2 sides and 10% concentration to be appropriate treatment to solve the dormancy period and incr ease the germination of saga seeds (Adenantera pavonina L.)
