Abstract

The protection system is any form of security carried out for electrical equipment installed in the electric power system. Therefore, reliable safety in a tray needs to get the right setting value. One of the safeguards in primary distribution is the use of Over Current Relay (OCR). This protection relay is very important, especially to overcome the occurrence of short circuit disturbances. The problem that often occurs in OCR is in optimization problems. The time optimization in OCR itself is determined by 2 parameters, namely Time Multiplier Setting (TMS) and Plug Setting (PS).
In OCR optimization, the TMS itself must be set selectively, using more complex methods such as the Improved Grey Wolf Optimizer (IGWO) to determine errors with faster execution times. In this study, an Over Current Relay was developed with the IGWO algorithm in the electrical system. From the results of the research that has been carried out, it is concluded that the optimization of TDS and Ipickup values using IGWO has succeeded in obtaining good coordination values This can be seen from the test results which show that the TDS values generated by the IGWO algorithm are smaller than conventional calculations on transmission networks.
