Abstract

Legal protection for correctional inmates carrying infant children has been implemented in accordance with Law no. 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections and the Government Number 32 of 1999 concerning Requirements and Procedures for Implementing the Rights of Prisoners. Forms of protection include providing special rooms for mothers and children, health services, providing additional food, submitting complaints, and special visit programs for mothers who have children outside prison. However, in its implementation it faces several obstacles such as limited budget, infrastructure, lack of specialized health personnel, lack of cooperation with related agencies and incomplete regulations to meet the needs of babies. Even though legal protection has been provided, improvements in facilities and services are still needed to optimize the fulfillment of the rights of WBP who have babies. This research recommends adding a special budget, improving the quality of infrastructure, and strengthening coordination with related agencies to support the welfare of mothers and children in correctional institutions.
