Abstract

This study aims to explain the economic and political interests of Saudi Arabia in normalization with Iran. This study is interesting to discuss because with the normalization with Iran, Saudi Arabia can diversify its economy and not stagnate only in oil sales, and also the dynamics of the Middle East region which continues to fluctuate due to proxy wars, so normalization will create stability in the Middle East region. This study uses the concept of national interests with qualitative descriptive research methods and library research data collection techniques. Researchers found that with the normalization of Saudi Arabia and Iran, the Arab Economy with Vision 2030 can help diversify the economy and in the Political sector, the situation in the Middle East can be more stable. In addition, the normalization carried out by Saudi Arabia with Iran in 2023 will open up opportunities for Saudi Arabia to strengthen its role in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in several aspects, namely strengthening the economic integration of the GCC and increasing the role of Saudi Arabia.
