Abstract

Muhammad Alfian Suryawan, NIM 201810040311526, Utilization of Deddy Corbuzier's Podcast as Information Media in the Millennial Era
The development of information and communication technology in the digital era has changed the way people access and absorb information. Podcasts as one of the internet-based digital media are now one of the main choices for the millennial generation, including students, to get relevant, interesting, and easily accessible information.
Deddy Corbuzier's YouTube Podcast is one form of digital media that is growing rapidly in the millennial era. This podcast presents various relevant and interesting information for the younger generation, including students of SMAN 10 Malang.
However, podcasts need to be used wisely by students so that they do not just become entertainment media. Podcasts can be a source of educational information if students choose content that is relevant to their learning needs. By listening to informative podcasts, students can broaden their horizons and gain new knowledge that supports the learning process
Therefore, researchers are interested in knowing how to analyze Deddy Corbuzier's YouTube podcast as an information media in the millennial era. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with the Uses and Gratifications theory which emphasizes that the audience is an active user of the media. The subjects of the study were students of SMAN 10 Malang who actively used this podcast. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation.
The results of the study showed that Deddy Corbuzier's YouTube podcast succeeded in meeting students' information needs by presenting various topics such as religion, politics, sports, and education. By using the Uses and Gratifications theory, this study found that students actively use this podcast to meet their needs for useful information.
