Abstract
This study aims to analyze the political strategies implemented by female legislators from the National Awakening Party (PKB) in the 2024 Malang City Legislative Election. The main focus of this study is on two female legislators, Ike Kisnawati and Putri Aidillah, who managed to win the election despite facing patriarchal challenges in a Muslim-majority society. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, relying on in-depth interviews, document analysis, and literature. The strategies implemented are analyzed through Peter Schroder's political strategy theory, which includes defensive and offensive strategies.
The results of the study show that the combination of defensive and offensive strategies allows Ike Kisnawati to maintain her voter base while expanding her political reach. Putri Aidillah, as a newcomer, stands out through a positioning approach that prioritizes vision, mission, and professionalism. Both candidates also managed to utilize political marketing strategies based on local community needs, such as direct interaction and the use of social media. The success of both reflects the community's acceptance of female leadership amidst cultural and religious challenges.
The conclusion of the study emphasizes the importance of an authentic and relevant community-based approach to breaking gender stigma in the political realm. PKB, as a moderate Islamic party, has succeeded in harmonizing Islamic values with gender equality, creating an inclusive space for women in politics. This study recommends strategic training for female cadres, advocacy for gender equality, and further study of women's campaign strategies in various cultural contexts.
