KONSTRUKSI PEMBERITAAN MEDIA ONLINE TANTANG KASUS PEMBUNUHAN IMAM MASYKUR OLEH TIGA OKNUM TNI ( Analisis Framing Pada Pemberitaan CNNIndonesia.com dan TribunNews.com )

This study focuses on the framing of news coverage regarding the murder case of Imam Masykur by three rogue TNI personnel on August 30, 2023. It examines how mass media, specifically CNNIndonesia.com and Tribunnews.com, interpret and construct news related to this case, including the differences in their approaches to delivering information to the public. This issue is studied due to its broad social impact, considering the involvement of the national defense institution in the case. Media coverage can influence public perception of transparency, accountability, and justice within the legal system. Moreover, there are framing differences between CNN Indonesia, which takes a more neutral stance and focuses on legal and investigative aspects, and Tribunnews, which is more emotional, sides with the victim, and highlights the social impact. These differences are crucial to examine in order to understand how media outlets frame an issue based on their respective editorial policies. This study employs a qualitative method. The analysis refers to Robert Entman’s framing theory, which highlights how the media interpret an issue through the selection of facts, emphasis on certain aspects, and the presentation of news to the public. Additionally, this issue is relevant to communication studies, particularly in the field of mass communication and journalism, as it relates to the application of framing theory in news reporting. By examining media framing in this case, this research aims to provide insights into how the media contribute to shaping narratives on sensitive cases and influencing public opinion on state institutions and legal justice. The findings indicate that CNN Indonesia emphasizes legal proceedings and case investigations, whereas Tribunnews frames the issue more through public opinion. Thus, the conclusion of this study is that, in the case of Imam Masykur, CNNIndonesia.com presents more neutral and fair reporting, whereas Tribunnews.com adopts a more critical approach, prioritizing transparency regarding the national defense institution.
