Abstract

The role of local communities can solve the problems of
environmental crises and poverty. One of the forestry programs that involve the participation of local institutions
is production forest. The form of land management in the program uses agroforestri cropping patterns.
Agroforestri is developed to benefit humans or improve people's welfare. The purpose of this study is to identify
and obtain methanotrophic bacterial isolates which can then be used as biological agents to support efforts to reduce
methane gas emissions in agroforestri forest areas. The method of this research is to isolate methanotrophic bacteria
from soil samples of the five plots in the Agroforestri forest area using NMS (Nitrate Mineral Salts) selective
media. Bacterial colonies were observed macroscopically (color, shape, size, elevation, topography and optical
properties), biochemical properties (gram test and catalase test), and supported by a literature search to determine
the type of bacteria. The highest abundance of methanotrophic bacterial colonies was Hagr-3-B isolates at 6.9 X
103 , while the lowest methanotrophic bacterial colonies were Hagr-4-B and Hagr-4-C isolates, which were 1.0 X
104. have been identified, namely Methylophilus sp., and Methylobacterium sp. The methanotrophic bacteria that
have been identified are gram negative (-) and catalase positive (+) bacteria.
