Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the rationale and construction of
holistic and balanced education at Thursina IIBS Malang High School. Holistic
and balanced education applied by Thursina IIBS is a process of developing all
basic potential (fitrah) of human beings to the fullest and in balance, both spiritual,
emotional, social, aesthetic, intellectual, and physical potential. The concept of
holistic and balanced education is a strategic effort to build a strong generation to
face the changes and challenges of the times.
The paradigm in this research is constructivism, with a qualitative
approach. This type of research uses case studies, and data collection techniques
are carried out by observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis
technique in this study uses an interactive analysis model, namely data
condensation, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and verification.
This research produces a holistic and balanced education construction
model at Thursina IIBS High School. The rationale for education is based on an
analysis of the needs of society in facing the challenges of globalization and the
basis of its educational philosophy based on QS At- Tin verse 4, Al-Qashash verse
77, and Al-Baqarah verse 201. The construction of holistic and balanced education
is built on four educational foundations, namely planning (preparing quality and
professional human resources), conceptualization (formulating vision, mission,
goals, and recoding), implementation (developing spiritual, emotional, social,
aesthetic, intellectual and physical potential) and evaluation based on holistic
concepts. And the theoretical implications of this research strengthen the theory of
Ramon Gallegos Nava and Sa'id Hawwa which states that holistic and balanced
education can develop all students' potential to the fullest and in a balanced manner
both ruhiyah (spiritual, emotional, social, and aesthetic), aqliyah (intellectual and
creativity) and jasadiyah (physical) potential.
