Abstract
When entering the elderly stage, the elderly face various significant changes, both physically and mentally, with conditions that tend to decline. This study aims to explore the happiness of the elderly living in the Yayasan Peduli Kasih Nursing Home. Using qualitative methods and a descriptive approach, this study involved five elderly people as interview subjects. The results of the study showed that the happiness of the elderly was greatly influenced by positive social relationships, involvement in daily activities, gratitude for small things, realistic optimism, and resilience in facing challenges. The elderly feel happy through close social interactions with fellow residents and administrators of the nursing home, which provide a sense of comfort and reduce loneliness. Activities such as exercise, reciting the Koran, and making small snacks also improve their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. This study reveals that social support, meaningful activities, and a comprehensive emotional approach can create greater happiness for the elderly in nursing homes.
