Abstract

This research aims to describe the understanding of teachers of the Muhammadiyah subject in preparing lesson plans using a scientific approach and implementing a scientific approach in preparing RPPs for the Muhammadiyah subject at SMK Muhammadiyah 5 Kepanjen. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Meanwhile, the informants for this research were the school principal (KS), deputy principal for curriculum (KK), and Kumuhammadiyahan (GA) subject teacher. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. The research data were analyzed using thematic analysis theory. The results of the research show that the Muhammadiyah subject teachers' understanding of the scientific approach is quite good. Teachers understand that a scientific approach is a very important way to help students think more critically and logically. Meanwhile, a scientific approach has been implemented in the RPP, although its implementation is not fully optimal. Several stages in the scientific approach, such as observation and experimentation, have not been implemented thoroughly. Monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the scientific approach still focuses on compliance with the 2013 Curriculum without assessing scientific implementation in more depth. Therefore, increasing training for teachers scientific approach is highly recommended.
