Abstract
This study examines the impact of globalization on the development of e-commerce in Indonesia, with a particular focus on the TikTok Shop phenomenon and related government policies. The background of the study includes the rapid growth of e-commerce in the digital era, accelerated by technological advances and changes in consumer behavior, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research method uses qualitative analysis of secondary data, including government policies, e-commerce growth statistics, and a case study of TikTok Shop. The results show that e-commerce has brought significant benefits to the Indonesian economy, but has also posed challenges for local MSMEs competing with cheap imported products. This study analyzes the government's response to the development of e-commerce, especially the controversial decision to ban the buy-sell feature on TikTok Shop. This policy is based on efforts to protect local MSMEs and enforce regulations on the separation of social media platforms and e-commerce. The study emphasizes the importance of balancing between encouraging innovation in e-commerce and protecting national economic interests. This study provides insight into the complexity of e-commerce regulation in the era of globalization and its implications for Indonesian economic policy.
