Abstract
The population of Indonesia utilized medicinal plants for a long time, especially in rural areas, through generational knowledge. The interaction of ethnic groups or communities with close ties to plants was known as ethnobotany. Medicinal plants referred to all plant species containing active substances with healing properties for certain diseases. One type of teaching material that could be used in biology learning was an atlas of medicinal plants. This research aimed to: (1) identify the types of medicinal plants and analyze their processing methods in the community of Guluk-Guluk Subdistrict, Sumenep Regency; (2) produce an atlas of medicinal plants as teaching material for students at Madrasah Aliyah 1 Annuqayah Putri. This study used a mixed-method approach, combining descriptive exploratory with a qualitative approach, followed by Research and Development (R&D). The research model applied was ADDIE, and the study was conducted from October 2023 to January 2024. The results of the descriptive exploratory research showed that (1) 36 plant families and 61 plant species were identified by the community of Guluk-Guluk Subdistrict, Sumenep Regency, as medicinal plants; (2) the most common method of processing was boiling. The results of the research and development phase indicated that (1) the medicinal plant atlas as a teaching material met very high feasibility criteria; (2) the atlas of medicinal plants was considered very practical by the students of MA 1 Annuqayah Putri.
